In the heart of Dumbo, this new-build apartment began as a clean white box with tall concrete ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. Our client, a busy attorney and devoted dog owner, needed help transforming the compact footprint into a polished, functional home that felt calming and personal. The raw architecture offered beautiful light and verticality, so our approach centered on honoring that airy quality while carving out comfortable, human-scaled spaces.

Space planning became essential, especially in the living area where standard furniture simply did not fit. We designed a semi-curved navy sofa that eases circulation and anchors the room without overwhelming it, paired with a vintage-inspired lounge chair to add sculptural balance. A custom leather-strap chandelier complements the concrete ceilings with a softness that feels both architectural and inviting. In the kitchen, we expanded the limited counter and storage space with custom millwork that matches the original cabinetry so seamlessly that the additions disappear into the design. Statement lighting defines the dining and living areas, giving each zone its own identity within the open layout.
Throughout the home, a calm palette of navy, white wovens, gray leathers, and natural textures sets the stage for bold artwork in vibrant blues, pinks, oranges, and reds. The primary bedroom is a serene retreat with a plush bed, a navy wool rug, and vintage Murano lamps that add a feminine touch against the clean-lined furnishings. The office doubles as a guest room with built-in desks, a sleeper sofa, and space for a Peloton, creating a flexible and efficient multipurpose environment. What began as a starter apartment evolved into a youthful, polished, and thoughtful home, and our collaboration continued with the client as she moved on to her next residence in Tribeca.
