Based in NYC — led by Tyson Ness

Studio Ness blends architectural thinking with a deeply personal approach to home and space. _

From historic Brooklyn brownstones to new builds in the Hamptons, from white box Manhattan penthouses to custom homes across the country, we bring a calm and considered approach to full-service interior design that you will love.

No matter the location or scale, our goal stays the same: creating interiors that feel personal, visually clear, and built to last.

Truthfully, we do more than design rooms. _

We create curated environments where every detail has intention.
Where the architecture is respected.
Where your lifestyle shapes the function.
And where each piece is selected for purpose, quality, and longevity.

Our clients choose to work with us because they want more than just a beautiful home.

You want a partner who saves you time, protects your investment, and manages the hundreds of decisions required for a ground-up build or a large-scale renovation. Which is part of the reason why so many of our clients return to us time and time again, we love becoming your designer for life.

Whether you are planning a Hamptons retreat, a luxury apartment remodel, or a full Brooklyn brownstone renovation, our studio guides the entire process with clarity, collaboration, and a deep respect for your time.

Our Approach

ONE

Vintage finds + custom pieces

Sourcing one-of-a-kind vintage treasures, designing custom furnishings, and discovering pieces that can’t be found in any showroom. Your home will be unlike anyone else’s.

Art curation + styling

From emerging artists to established galleries, we will help you build a collection that transforms your walls into truly unique and personal exhibitions. Art isn’t an afterthought, it’s an integral part of design.

Quality over quantity

We advocate for investing in fewer, better pieces. Well-made furniture, domestic brands, and craftsmanship that lasts a lifetime. Your home should get more beautiful with time, not less.

Renovation expertise that actually works

Fifteen years of navigating NYC’s renovation challenges means we know how to make the process smooth, on-time, and (surprisingly) enjoyable.

Our Clients Say it Best _

The idea of completely re-designing an apartment from scratch was overwhelming but Studio Ness was able to come up with a layout that felt like it was exactly what I wanted. I loved how we were able to make the absolute most out of every square inch of every room!”

Working with Tyson was a lovely, seamless and amazing experience. Being able to execute a cohesive design and plan, while navigating a couple’s difference in taste and style doesn’t seem easy, but he made us feel like it was. He led us gently to the furniture that has literally become some of our favorite things. Our items are beautiful and more importantly functional. We have small children, but we didn’t sacrifice style. We can’t wait to work with Tyson and his team again. It was truly a pleasure!

“Tyson and Quinn are exactly what I was hoping for in a design team. They really listened to my wishes and concerns, proposed several options, patiently revised and tweaked as needed and ultimately delivered a beautiful forever home for me. The Studio Ness Story _

A person standing at the edge of a lake, looking at mountains covered with trees and some snow patches.

The story of Studio Ness starts long before New York City. It begins in rural Wyoming, where I grew up surrounded by raw, serene landscapes and wide open sky. That early environment shaped the way I see space. It taught me that simplicity creates calm, that balance matters, and that a room should always have room to breathe.

Those lessons stayed with me as I built my career. Before starting Studio Ness in 2018, I spent years working within respected architecture and interior design firms throughout New York. My work involved interior architecture, custom furniture and millwork, design development, and project management across projects of all sizes. The complexity of the city’s renovations taught me how to guide a project with focus, clarity, and respect for the process. Turning something complicated into something effortless became second nature.

Studio Ness was founded on a simple belief: design works best when it feels personal._

Not performative. Not for show. Your home should reflect your life and support the way you want to live. Beauty matters, but so does function, comfort, and longevity. I want every space we create to feel grounded, intentional, and a reflection of the homeowner.

A living room with a dark gray sofa, pillows, a throw blanket, and curtains, featuring a decorative black vase with curly chive flowers on a small round table.

I have had the privilege of working on projects that have been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Luxe Magazine, Remodelista, House Beautiful, and several Rizzoli publications. The recognition is always appreciated, but the real success lies is in the relationships that continue long after a project wraps. Many clients return as their families grow or their needs evolve, and that ongoing trust remains the greatest compliment.

Now based in New York City and working nationwide, Studio Ness partners with clients who appreciate thoughtful design and value an efficient and personal process. Over the years, we have partnered with a wide range of clients, including lawyers, restauranteurs, influencers, entrepreneurs, and leaders in health and fitness. Your life moves quickly and your time is valuable. Our role is to create a process that feels grounded, thoughtful, and seamless from start to finish. Whether you are building a new home, renovating a historic property, or reimagining an existing space, we bring clarity & creativity to every step.
